Stacy Swartout-McKee is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where she earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree.
She taught for 30 years in Oregon public schools, beginning her career at Elmira and Grants Pass High Schools before spending the final 24 years at her alma mater, Springfield High School. Under her direction, choirs regularly received superior ratings and state-qualifying scores, and were consistently ranked among the top five in the state. During her tenure, she served as President of the Metro Directors Association and played a key leadership role in regional choral events, including serving as the organizing director for the Metropolitan Choral Festival in Eugene and the Just Sing It! Middle School Choir Festival in Springfield.
Stacy currently serves as the vocal clinician for the American Band College, preparing the choir for major works, including the world premiere of At Kitty O’Sheas by Johan de Meij. She is an active guest conductor and adjudicator at music festivals and provides music education clinics for schools and colleges throughout Oregon.
Following her retirement from public-school teaching in 2021, Stacy assumed the role of graphic designer and marketing director for the American Band College and the Western International Band Clinic. She also serves as a Student Teaching Supervisor at the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, landscaping, and traveling.. |
