How do I record student percussion auditions with the FREE SmartMusic software?

  1. Similar to other instruments in the band, you download the pdf (printable version) for the instrument you want to audition on.
  2. You will audition of two of the three percussion instruments below. (Choose either mallet percussion, timpani, or snare drum).
  3. The audition music is the same compared to last year. (However, be sure to download the new PDF for more info about your audition.)
  4. Download the smart file for your instrument. Once the smart file (smp) is downloaded to your computer, double click on it to launch the SmartMusic software with the appropriate audition music.
  5. Turn off the "Solo Line" and record your audition with the SmartMusic software.
  6. There is no accompaniment for any of the percussion auditions.
  7. If you run out of recording time during your recording session, slow the tempo down on the SmartMusic recorder.
