What is the difference between quarter-system hour credits and semester-system hour credits?

The American Band College program at Central Washington University is on a quarter-hour system.

Semester-system credit hours are two thirds of quarter-system hour credits. Three quarter-hours are equal to two semester-hours.

Equivalents:

2 semester-system hours = 3 quarter-system hours
4 semester-system hours = 6 quarter-system hours
6 semester-system hours = 9 quarter-system hours
8 semester-system hours = 12 quarter-system hour
10 semester-system hours = 15 quarter-system hours
12 semester-system hours = 18 quarter-system hours

Candidates enrolled in Central Washington University's Master of Music with specialization in Music Education degree program regularly take 15 quarter credits per summer for 3 summers to meet the degree requirement total of 45 quarter hours.
