Scott McKee

ABC/Bandworld/WIBC CEO

A Western International Band Clinic staff member since 1990, Scott assumed the full-time position of Managing Director of the American Band College and Organizing Chairman for WIBC in 2002. In 2015, he was appointed as the CEO of Bandworld, ABC and WIBC.

Scott holds a bachelors degree in music education from Southern Oregon University and a master's degree through the American Band College. He taught many years in the public schools of Oregon (Scappoose and Springfield), and is still active as the conductor of the Willamette Valley Honor Band in the Eugene area.

In addition to band adjudication, Scott is busy guest conducting honor groups in the Northwest and Brisbane, Australia at the Griffith Conservatorium of Music. In 2004, he was elected Associate Member of the American Bandmasters Association.

Paul Kassulke

ABC/Bandworld/WIBC Director of Operations

A member of the first graduating class of The American Band College in 1994, Paul assumed a full-time position with ABC/Bandworld/WIBC and moved to Oregon in 2007.

Paul previously served the Lutheran Schools in Wisconsin and Minnesota for 31 years. He has a B.S. in Education from Dr. Martin Luther College and a masters degree from Southern Oregon Univ. He currently serves as the Director of Operations for ABC/Bandworld/WIBC.

Paul has been on staff with ABC from 1999 and WIBC since 2000 and is now the supervisor of the Honor Bands and the liaison to the WIBC guest bands. He has also served as guest conductor for Honor Choir Festivals in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Washington. He continues to run marathons in his spare time and is active as a church musician and choir director.

Ted Burton

ABC/Bandworld/WIBC Technical Director

As a staff member with the American Band College since 2001 and Western International Band Clinic since 2002, Ted came on staff full-time as Technical Director in June of 2015.

Ted holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Cal Poly, Pomona and master’s degree from the American Band College. He recently retired with 32 years in music eduction, having taught elementary through college band and orchestra in California and Oregon. His most recent position was the Director of Bands at Mountain View H.S. in Bend, Oregon.

Ted remains active in the music scene while performing on clarinet with the Central Oregon Symphony, Cascade Winds and the Summit Express Jazz Band. In his spare time, he enjoys sailing in the Caribbean with his wife, Nancy.

Max McKee

ABC/Bandworld/WIBC Executive Director

Editor of Bandworld Magazine and co-founder of Western International Band Clinic, he is Professor Emeritus of Music at Southern Oregon Univ. where he served as Director of Bands from 1967 to 1994. He is now Executive Director of The American Band College masters degree program in which over 200 candidates from over 47 states and 8 foreign countries are enrolled.

Max also continues as a WIBC Board member, has served on the Oregon Arts Commission and in 2014 was elected Chairman of the Board of the John Philip Sousa Foundation. He received the NBA Citation of Excellence and is a two-time recipient of the Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Certificate of Merit. In 1999 he was inducted into the Northwest Bandmasters Assoc. and received the Sousa Foundation’s highest award, The Medal of Honor.

He is an elected member of the prestigious American Bandmasters Association, hosted its 1988 national convention in Ashland and served on its Board of Directors from 2000-2002. Max was also presented the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic's Music Industry Award, the WBDI World of Music Award and the A.A. Harding Award by the ASBDA.
