Project Benefits

In 2008 while in Amsterdam, we had a dinner meeting with composer, Johan de Meij, to commission a new work for band based on Irish melodies from a personal archive dating back over 20 years.

Johan agreed to compose "At Kitty O'Shea's" in honor of the famous Midwest Clinic meeting place at the Hilton Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.

In order to pay expenses for the project, it was decided that schools would find it much easier to support the $200 consortium fee if several complete works were presented at the time of payment.

It was thus decided to provide score and parts for a beautiful setting of "Prayer" from Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel" plus a superb concert march by Glenn Matthews, entitled "Citation March." In addition the special setting of the famed "Revecy Venir du Printans" by Claude LeJeune as set for band by Max McKee and renamed "Springtime Madrigal" rounds out the 3 work set. "Springtime" is designed as a unique way to bring the entire band in a player at a time until the stage is filled and composition ends.
