Igor Savinov Kaleid

One of Russia's most active composers, teachers and adjudicators, Igor Savinov teaches at the Moscow Conservatory. His compositions cover all areas of orchestral, wind and vocal music.

He has served on several occasions as a member of the international adjudication panel for the Coups de Vents Festival in France, including 2008. He was, in fact, the winner of the Grand Prize for the first Coups de Vents Festival in Le Havre, France in 1988 with his original work entitled, "Suite for Orchestra d'Harmonie."

His "Procession and Hymn" was composed for and dedicated to the City of Le Havre, France where the Coups de Vents festival originated in the late 1980s. (It is now hosted in Lille, France but is still run by Philippe Langlet, the founder.)

The complete set of parts that appears in this issue of Bandworld Magazine includes the heroic Hymn portion of the larger work. Play Audio: Listen
